hi all

i recently bought 2 quads ,one is a Honda TRX 300 1999 in a very bad and rusty condition and the other is a chinese 250 cc with a ZONGSHEN engine .
i decided to take those 2 as a project and renovate them both ,the honda for myself and the chinese for my partner.
with the honda i'm ok for now as i purchased the service manual which is very helpful ,i also bought a refurbished and painted frame so so far no problems but i'm pretty sure i'll have a few questions along the way about it. :wink:

now for my question : the Chinese quad is a mystery . all i know is that it has a ZONGSHEN engine and it's a 250cc, 3 speed + reverse , 2008 made and that's it.
If anyone recognizes the brand and can give me some details on it, or can point me to where i can find more details,that would be great.


when i looked at the Chinese ignition coil i saw that it's broken and needs to be replaced.
on the coil it said xfd0708 ,i looked everywhere and couldn't find the same coil .
can anyone explain to me how the hell do i find the right coil for that quad?
does it have to be the same coil or any coil for chinese quad will work?

I think it is probably a taotao at-250D http://taotao.us/index.cfm/atvs/ata-250d/

you can see the vin tag in that pic, it is in the front behind the bumper - that will tell you what it is
if I am correct, you can get parts for it here Eagle Atv Parts
event if it isnt a taotao, most of the parts will probably work anyway, especially the coil

i looked on the number and all i have is : 4TV2008
above it there is the MFG date which is 2008 .
any thoughts ?

so you mean that any Chinese online shop that sells quad parts will fit on my Chinese one?

 

I wouldnt say that any part would fit, but I would be confident that the coil would work..

as best as I can tell the factories in china pump these things out as fast as they can and several different companies (taotao, kazuma, etc.) just put their sticker on them and sell them as their own, so most of the parts are interchangeable

you can go to ebay and search "chinese atv coil 250" and you will come up with plenty of options
