Well they sent me the wrong stator (sent me an 8 coil instead of a 6 coil), so I guess I will have to wait until next week to find out if that is what is wrong. I can't really test anything until then because I am almost positive the current stator is shot: the red and black wire was exposed and in contact with the flywheel as was the ground, and 1 of the coils was pretty chewed up and another was rubbed a bit. I covered things with insulating tape, got some bolts and put the thing back on to see, but acted the same so I think it is actually shot, whether from the mistreated assembly or it was already that way, I don't know. Will report back (or start a new thread, since I have totally taken this one off topic) next week. Thanks!
