sunl 110 4 wheeler no fuel?
#1
Hi new here,
I just bought a used SunL 110 four wheeler. It ran when i got it, kinda crappy but it ran. Guy said it was sitting for a long time. I drained the gas, and refilled with some 97octane, replaced the battery and it started right up. When i went to ride it, the was little power and i could only go maybe 1/4 throttle and then it would bog down. I let it sit and idle for awhile thinking maybe if I just let it run it would clean out. Well that didnt happen, eventually it stalled and has yet to restart. I took the carb off to clean it and when i pulled the bowl off the was this gel/ sugary looking stuff in it. So i cleaned all pieces of the carb, and was careful to be sure and adjustments on of the screws that were adjustable. put it all back together and still no start. It has a brand new ngk plug in it, and it is getting spark. But i did notice after cranking for awhile the plug is bone dry. I know fuel is getting into the carb cause when I open the drain screw fule comes out. Also I pulled out the plug and cranked it with my finger over the hole and my finger does not get any fuel on it. Im lost, any info would be great.
Thank you

when you "cleaned the carb", did you remove the jets and clean them? i'll betcha that is the remaining problem. apparently your needle valve is working if you got fuel in the float bowl. now the jets remain dirty/clogged and they won't pass the fuel on to the piston.

make sure your inline fuel filter is clean. make sure you pull the jets out and clean them. that is critical. don't know if you've done this or not, but here's a generic video that shows you. your carb may not be identical, but the principle is the same.

bare with me, so you could see daylight through all of the jet orifices, right? down the center and in the sides? we just gotta make sure the jelly gunk you found is all out. even a little bit will cause your quad to bog.

. i gotta do some more thinking on this one. hmmm....
. clean jets, clean float, clean needle valve, fuel in bowl, vacuum hose missing? crank the engine and spray carb cleaner around the intake boot. maybe we're not pulling a vacuum good enough and the pressure drop ain't good enough. i presume all hoses are in the correct position? dang i gotta keep thinking on this one and quit grasping at straws. this one's a little tougher than other ones with the evidence.

whoa! really?! now i need you to check to make sure you got spark!!!!!!!
if you had spark and cranked the engine and sprayed the carb cleaner in there, it should've fired up and ran on carb cleaner. i realize it ain't as light as ether/starting fluid, but it should've fired up. do you know how to check for spark? if not, pull the spark plug, reattach the coil wire to the spark plug, ground the plug to the engine block/fin area and crank it. do you see the plug sparking? make sure all of your safety interlocks are satisfied such as brake switch, etc.....in other words, set the left handlebar parking brake. then do this. report back.
