Unhappy Tao Tao 150

Hi everyone. I recently posted on here and received help and am hoping to do the same again. I had a problem with my atv bogging and was told to clean the carb. I did that and ended up with the same problem so I just took it off to clean it again. The jets were clogged and so I thought I solved the problem. After I put the carb back on (the exact same way I did so before) the atv will not start. When I push the starter button it sounds like it wants to go but maybe isn't getting gas? When I push the throttle to give it has it makes a noise as if I'm pushing it but no gas is going through. I've tried emptying the gas and re putting it in and also have checked to make sure everything is the way it should be and it seems to be exactly right. There is not a gas shut off switch so I know that it is not that. Thanks for any help.

Mary

is your spark plug wet with gasoline after you crank it?
have you checked for fuel at the float bowl drain? your needle valve may be stuck closed. i presume by your post you pulled the jets out and cleaned them and not cleaned them in place.

Thank you for getting back with me. The next day after cleaning the carb(yes we did take the jets out and clean them), I finally got it started. For approximately 2-3 minutes, white smoke came from the exhaust but then stopped. I've since started/rode it 3 times and there has not been any smoke. I did find something else interesting, there is a black hose leading from the carb to a black box looking thing. I'm sorry, I do not know what this black box is. Anyway the black hose has a hole basically completely around it. What kind of impact does this have on the atv? Should I buy a new one before I run/ride it again. I wasn't sure if this could have to do with why the carb clogged again? I believe the first time it clogged was due to not using premium gas.

Thanks for all of your help.

i'm trying to imagine what hose/black box you're talking about. is it the overflow hose going back to the fuel tank? is it the vacuum hose going to the fuel pump or maybe back to the air box/filter box? you may have to draw a picture or take a couple of pictures and post them so we can get on the same page. i would say, yes, if the hose is degraded and breached, it would need to be replaced so as to not suck in or exhaust any solids/particulates, dirt, sand, or whatever into something critical. and really, any hardware store or auto parts store has the replacement hoses. just take in what you got, they can fix you up.
