Default Help with tire pressure!

I have bought new tires for my Aeon Cobra 180cc atv. The tires are maxxis razr 21x7-10 front and 20x11-8 rear. Which is the best pressure for the tires in psi? I weight 80kg and the dry weight of the atv is 165kg and the most of the time I drive on the road. The manual says 3 psi front and rear but I think is to low for road! Can you help me?

You can go higher if you are using it on the road. I wouldn't go above the max recommended pressure though(which I am guessing is about 35psi?) Why not try a short loop at 5, then 15, then 25psi and see what works best. Fine tune from there.

You run those tires at 15psi or above, and they will be so round and tight, it will bounce like a basketball, plus you will only be riding on about a 2" strip of the middle of the tire, which will wear out fast. Scooter, I believe that 35 psi max on the tire refers to bead seating psi, not actual running psi. At most for road use, maybe 7 psi, in those tires a few psi makes a huge difference.

I tried 10 psi first but with a second person the steering was dificult. I put 15 psi and the steering is much better with a second person. But the problem now is the fast wear of the tire. I think I will leave it 15 psi. What do you think?

The main problem is your tires...the Razrs are ment for MX racing on dirt tracks, they are too soft to be a good street tread, which looks like your main use is as a road vehicle, correct? There are many road and hard surface rated tires that will work much better, at 15 psi, you will wear out these tires fast, especially on the asphalt roads. I would look into TT racing tires, they are set up for paved flat track racing, or find a high speed road rated tire meant to run at higher psi.

I usually ran mine about 5psi since I wasn't in too much mud or rocks.

Back in the day, mx racers used to run small car tires on the fronts. They would shave tread away to simulate *****. Something like this may help if you don't really use it much on trails. Also I know in Europe these things are much more widely accepted on the roads, maybe you have tires better suited for that application over there? We really don't have much in a DOT approved atv tire since there aren't many places that are atv/road friendly.

Yes I usually use my atv on the road but the reason for choosing these tires is that often I run on sand and rocks. I think that this tire is something all around but of course more an off-road tire. I will reduce the pressure to 12 psi and I will see how it goes!
