i just started up my quad and it sounds really different ,the sound is coming from the carb i think its a really deep noise any ideas wat it could b?

 

Only noise I've known a carb to make is a hiss when you leave the air filter off. If it has a vacuum slide and the diaphragm went bad I imagine that could hiss too. But a 'deep noise' you got me there. Are you sure its coming from the carb?

 

Narrow down the source of the noise. These are very useful:

Mechanic's Stethoscope

You can also use a short piece of garden hose - one end held up to your ear, and the other to various points on the engine til you localize the problem.

 

Another poor boy stethoscope is a simple screwdriver. Basically put the handle to your ear snugly and touch it to where you wanna listen. Longer screwdrivers allow better reach. A wider handle helps seal it to your ear better. People will look at you like your crazy but who cares as long as your bike runs later.

 

found out that it was a breather pipe that comes off the exhaust that wasnt connected up did anyone hear of anything like that b4
