Unhappy Quad Repair help (SUNL)

Before you start, Yes, i know, SUNL is a parts nightmare...

I received a SUNL ATV from my in-laws (free) that was sitting in a garage for 3 years (fuel on)... I replaced the battery, a couple cables and the plug, and got it running... Now comes the problem... the carb is shot. the float and the pin are essentially destroyed. it runs for about a min then dumps gas out one of the tubes at the top of the carb, then drowns itself.

I've been on a quest to find a new carb without any luck...

What i'm hoping for is someone on here can either tell me a compatible carb, rebuild kit or the best place to find a carb for a 2005 SUNL SLA-150.

Thanks for any help you can provide...

There's plenty around and I think they're the same. Here's a link. SUNL 150cc ATV Carburetors | SUNL Carburetors | SUNL Parts

If you get another one, I would love to have the screws that hold the bowl on.

Just go to your local home center or part store. Tell them you need some m4 bolts about an inch long.

OK mudmike, I will do that, even though a one inch screw will be way too long I can cut them off and if I have to I can tap the bowl of the carb.and make them fit.

Or maybe, put some duct tape round and round the bowl to hold it on, or J B Weld it on.

you shouldn't need to tap them 99% of chinese carbs usa a m4 screw. If 1 inch is too long yes it can be cut or just buy several leghths when you get them cause the screws shouldn't be but 10-15 cents.

Thanks for the link to MotoPartsMax, in my quest, they did come up.

ARMAGH,
As soon as i pull the carb out i'll let you know. i'm going to attempt a rebuild first (not likely), so the parts of the carb will be fare game.

Curious question... has anyone ever tried to swap out the Chinese carb with another brand? What else would have to change?

camatulli, The rebuild will be easy. There is not much there to do wrong. You can do it easy.

I don't see any brand on my carbs maybe because I don't look but I can tell on the pictures on line if it's the same. Be careful to get the same kind of choke you already have. Leaver on the carb or attachment for a cable from the handle bar.
