Re-indexed throttle lever?

Re-indexed throttle lever?
Working on a Taotao 110.
My daughter loves the thing but after 20-30 min of riding, her thumb is sore from the angle of the throttle lever. The thing sticks out a long way from the handle bars.
Seems to me that the lever should be angled more towards the handle bars at idle than it currently is.
Anyone ever tried re-indexing the things?
