cdi?

hi im new here so hope this is the right place to post this, I have a qiye 110 that was giving to me. it wouldn't start, no spark. i wasn't sure if the remote box was causing it so I cut the red and yellow wire coming from the safety remote box not knowing that I could have just unplugged it. anyway I touched these to wires together thinking they had to be connected for a spark. they become hot and I heard a pop at the front of the 4 wheeler in the area that the cdi is. is there something in the cdi that could make a popping sound (like a toy cap pistol) if shorted.

Was the key on when it popped? Have you tried to start it since it popped? Did you sice the wires back together since then?
Answer these questions and try to start the bike and see what happens. Check the spark plug for "fire" or spark. The pop may have been the headlight bulb. It has already popped so don't concern yourself with that now. However check and see if the headlight works.
NOW we need to find out if it runs and then figure out why it doesn't, if in fact it doesn't run.

smell it. i betcha you burned up a wire rather than the cdi. but, stranger things have happened. so, on the stator ouput, voltage ain't making it past the ouput's quick connect or where exactly is it stopping?

no no,,,sometimes the electronics will smell burnt and then it's a no brainer that the suspect piece of equipment is fried and no testing is needed. just...smell it. bwahahahaha! bloodhound, yeah, sic'em.
