Despite all the resources in the forum I'm still stumped. Working on a 300cc machine and it has no spark. Coil is good. Stator produces voltage but I don't even think its part of the ignition but rather the charging system. Pick up coil does not produce voltage but does appear to switch on and off. Not sure if this is correct. I'm assuming all my kill switches work. They all (kickstand, brake, switch, key) keep the bike from cranking.

What's next? I know the cdi is a common failure point but I don't want to be a parts hanger. I want to make a proper determination that this is the problem or find something else wrong that is a chaper fix!

have you checked at your spark plug boot? I had a no spark issue and after putting in a new cdi still no spark. Ended up finding out the brass insert in the boot had come loose so it was no longer getting connection went and got a new one for $5 and was off and running

so how did you check the boot, visually or tested with an ohm meter/voltmeter?

 

With a test light, an ohm meter, 2 different coil packs, and 2 different spark plugs. I'm leaning towards pick up coil. Ohms out of range for most common coils and it produces no voltage
