yes in neutral light comes on when you put it in neutral .and you're talking about the middle.wire of the hot side of the CDI

It should be the only wire in the middle of the CDI harness at the CDI. If not, we would need to see a picture of your CDI.

the CDI has 5 pins .three hot on the top and two grounds on the bottom

it is a four and two configuration with the four only having three wires
