Default 110cc engine trouble turning over

Ok so I have a 110cc go cart I bought for my daughter , replaced the carb and the battery on it since it has been sitting and didnt want to run right..well it starts up she rides it , but sometimes when u go to start it up, the starter drags just like it has a dead battery but the battery isn't dead!!! It has trouble turning over really slow, then I can put it in gear, turn the tires a little bit, then try and cranked it again and it starts right up!! It acts like the compression is messed up and wont let the starter turn the motor over ....does anyone know what is wrong ?? Thank you in advance!!

A bad connection on the thick wires from battery to solenoid, to starter, or on the earth side, will cause these problems. I have also found a slightly slipping starter clutch has the same effect, starts to slip just before TDC, but then the momentum gets it over compression, and it works again. It seems like a slow starter, but isn't. Of course it could be a faulty starter, but quad starters usually either work OK, or not at all.

The starter is brand new, the battery is brand new . Like last night It would struggle to even turn over maybe like 1 1/2 times very slowly then like the motor was locked up it wouldn't do nothing, so I put it in gear and pushed it a little then tried to start again and it started right up no problem
