Default Help on Starting

I have a 2008 Chinese odes 400 which goes by the name of Apollo. When I go to start it and push the starter button, the starter will turn over the engine maybe one time and stop. Push the button again and the same thing. Have checked the voltage on the battery and it is OK. Have jumped the starter relay and it does the same thing. I hook a jumper battery to the starter and the same..Now I take the spark plug out and the starter will turn the engine over just fine. I checked the valves and at TDC on compression stroke the have clearance. Any thoughts

It sounds like one of your valves are sticking shut, maybe?

Either you have a rather strange starter motor problem or one of the leads has a bad connection. Could be at battery, solenoid, on motor or an earth. However have you checked battery under load? A low battery shows 12. something volts until you press the start button, if it then drops below about 9v you have a flat or dud battery. The 350 Honda has a de-compressor that works automatically when starting. I guess this could stick, but unlikely.
