Kasea 90, BLU9 quad won’t start
#1
Have a Kasea 90 that has strong spark and fuel, but won’t pop at all. Suspect timing but don’t know how to check it. Woodruff key not sheared on stator cover. All electronic parts have been replaced. Totally frustrated. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thx

First check compression, should be 90psi or above, much lower and two strokes get bad to start. Air/fuel ratio needs to be just right for an engine to fire up, are you sure the choke is working properly, and have you cleaned the carb out?

Thanks Merryman, I will check compression and remove the carburetor and clean it. Have been manually choking it which I guess has been flooding it. I appreciate your suggestions! Thx Jerry Rowell, Fort Valley Ga.

Mr Merryman, I think you nailed it. Compression reading is 40psi instead of the required 90psi you specified. Do you know of an automatic compression release inside this engine like some engines have, Kawasaki’s ACR for instance. This quad has been stored for 3 or 4 years so probably has a stuck compression ring on the piston. What do you think about injecting seafoam into the spark plug hole and letting it soak for a period of time to unstick the compression ring? Thanks for your help. JR

There won't be compression release, two strokes have a hard time producing good compression as the ports are open for almost half the compression stroke. You can give seafom a go but I think you will find the rings are broken or badly worn, possibly the bore too. Assuming it is the "Minarelli" two stroke, parts are not too bad to find, both Polaris and Apache used it.
