and if you do have power there re test the coil this time use a screwdriver in the boot near the block. be careful doing this it could shock you. this will tell you if you have spark at the boot which confirms you have a good coil.
I performed this test on one of my quads and got shocked when the plug was in the boot and I figured out the connector for the spark plug was a spring for a clothespin that had been shoved through the insulation it made contact with the plug and wire but the colder it got the more the spark jumped to the nearest ground I repaired that connection and can now start the quad reliably.
Im happy to try helping, Ive never been one to want someone to throw parts at a problem until it works. That gets expensive.

No, still no spark. The coil is brand new. I will try to use a meter and get a volt reading from the wiring going to the coil. I'll try and run through that in the morning.

Went this morning and pulled off wires running to plug coil. I'm assuming it's a DC voltage being sent. I tested it both ways (green as a ground then as a hot) and got no voltage.

cdi and voltage rectifier/regulator are new units btw. I still think it might be a bad idea to check, just don't know how.

I remember reading you replaced the cdi do you still have the old one? you could put the old one back on and see if that gets anything working then youve got a place to start

I started looking up how to test cdi boxes if youve got a cdi with a 4 pin connector and a 2 pin connector I think we can figure things out. show me the CDI and we can try and diagnose from there.

As far as what? Just want to be sure I give you the info you need. I'll check later when I get done at my appliance business. Probably gonna have lots of time to check things since I'm gonna get an ice storm through tomorrow

Im stuck home with the rona. so plenty of time to figure it out. anyways theres different types of cdi and if your feeling adventurous we could try triggering the cdi outside of the quad and see if you get a working reading. we should be able to make a workable test stand with a 12v battery a lightbulb and the old pulsed coil. that you pulled out oh and a magnet. I just need to know how many pins in the connector

First, I'm sorry you are stuck with Rona. I wish you a speedy recovery and a mild case.

I'm always down for an adventure, especially if the end result is my niece's happy face.

5 pins in the connector. What kind of 12v battery? I've got car and a spare ATV/motorcycle one. Same question for the bulb, household bulb work or a car bulb?

either battery will work and lets stick with automotive bulbs.

does your cdi resemble that box?
