Need help with semi-automatic
#1
Have a Chinese twin cylinder 250 cc 4 stroke that is supposed to have a semi-automatic transmission. Pulled from a wrecked ATV with no identification on the ATV as to the manufacture. Searching the net, I found that the engine looks exactly like a Honda Rebel motorcycle engine. It has five forward gears and a clutch. Problem is I can’t get the motor to act like a “semi-automatic” With the motor running, the bike jumps when you shift from neutral to first, not the way I expected from a semi-auto trans. engaging the clutch doesn’t do anything, so I assume there is something wrong inside. Anybody have any experience or ideas before I start pulling the motor apart, since I don’t know what I’m looking for.

send some pics of the engine and transmission. we'll be able to give you some direction once we see what we're dealing with. both sides of the quad if you don't mind. thanks. yeah, better toss in a frontal shot also. look on the front of the quad at the pushbar area and see if it has a metal ID tag. if not, look under the left frame rail and look for the 17 digit VIN. we can run the numbers and maybe that'll tell us or give us a hint. does the engine/transmission/jug-cylinder area have any markings on it? thanks. let us know.

Sounds like the engine that came in the Jetmoto 250 Utility quad I gave to my father in law.. its not a semi auto.. uses a clutch.. First thing Id check is that the clutch is adjusted correctly..next pull the clutch side cover and take a look..
