What are the colors of the four wires?
Before you go connecting this wire to that, make sure you have a 10 amp fuse installed in line with the small red wire coming off the battery that feeds everything except the big fat red wire that goes to the starter motor via the starter solenoid. If you don't have a fuse then add one. Without a fuse you can easily start a fire.
If the colors are red, black, green, and black/white (generic standard colors), then connect the red and black wires together. Leave the green and black/white wires disconnected and hanging free.
For the starter to turn remember that you have to satisfy the starter/brake interlock circuitry. Apply the brakes and make sure the brake light is on - then press the start button.
If your colors are different we will have to dig deeper a bit
(get a meter ready).

thanks for the tip.when i went to do this i noticed there is a block of wires that doesnt go to anything, one of which is the power wire for my coil.i looked at your diagram of a 150 atv and it doesnt match mine.i have a 4 pin cdi and the small red wire from the battery goes into it.i dont know if someone hacked the wires or if this is correct.the emisssion info list the engine family as:7vcox.150aa1(when i entered this into google it came back with 3 results one of which almost gave me several viruses)any additional help would be appreciated.is there a way to eliminate all the accesory wires(lights)and rewire to see if i get spark?or is it time to scrap it?

Perhaps I misunderstood your original post. When you said your 'ignition was missing' I assumed you meant your ignition switch. And when you wanted to 'bypass the ignition' I assumed you wanted to do the job of the ignition switch and connect the needed wires together to make the ignition switch wires in the "on" position... Is this right or are you talking about something else?
I don't understand your last post. You've discovered another block of wires that don't go anywhere, yet one wire (a power wire) goes to your coil. Power wires don't go to coils. The output of your CDI is what goes to the coil. I'm a little confused here...
.
Is this your 4 pin CDI?

The 'switched 12 volt power' pin is 12 volt power that is fused, and switched on and off by the ignition switch. Is this pin of your CDI wired directly to the battery? No fuse? No switch?
The 'ignition coil' pin of the four pin CDI is what goes to the coil. Is that what you see on your quad?
Does you wiring harness look hacked? Most people who don't know what they are doing when modifying a wiring harness use lots of electrical tape and wires simply twisted together. It's usually obvious.
Rewiring a quad is a massive undertaking. Almost always it is far easier to fix your existing harness. As far as accessories - leave them alone. Why bother to take them out? If they work - fine. If they don't work - fine. They have nothing to do with your 'no start' and/or 'no spark' problem. You have to have a lot of wires presesnt and working for a quad to work right with just the basic functions: Cranking, spark, and battery charging stuff. The accessory stuff by comparison is trivial... Ignore the accessories and fix them later (or not, as you desire).
And I guess I still don't know which problem you are trying to address... Are you attempting to crank the quad with the starter, or does the starter turn and you have no spark?
