Default TaoTao mystery quad

Hello:

We have a TaoTao we acquired from someone who had it sitting in their yard. They said last time they checked, it fired up. It needs some work, and to date, I have never attempted to start it.

I have tried to find an ID plate, or something that tells me what model it is, but I am just not finding it. Does someone who is familiar with these know where it's at?

It likely needs a new spark plug, but I do not know what size.

I know it's a 4 stroke, because there is an oil drain plug on it. It has manual gears to shift. I'm thinking it's a 110cc or 125cc possibly. If I had the ID plate location, I would know.

The chain is dry, so I'm curious as to what to lubricate a quad's chain? I'm a novice on maintenance on these things.

Thanks again!

There should be a number on the engine below the shift lever, something like 1P44FMI where I = 125cc class, H would = 110cc class. Most of the horizontal Honda clone engines use a NGK C7HSA plug.

Use motorcycle chain lube for the chain. Many brands and types available.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check it tonight.

BTW, do you know if you can get replacement fairings and whatnot for these things? To say the plastics on this are sunbaked is a gross understatement.

Take a look at the ATV pics on Home - TAOTAO USA INC and find one that looks like yours, then you can order plastics from their parts order site. Should be cheap and easy to get.

Here is what I was able to make out. They really hide these things don't they?

TZH11157FMI - this was on the top and below
B0750097

I've looked online but not finding anything. This was on the left side of the quad under the gear shifter mounted to the side of the engine.

Try googling TZH 157 FMI. China TianZhong Group is the manufacturer. It's a standard Honda clone 125cc class with a 57mm bore.

OK, I did what you said, but that just tells me what the engine is, and who made it.

I'm actually trying to narrow down the exact model name of TaoTao quad. I want to know because there are plastics and what have you that need to be replaced. I've try searching the VIN, and I even went to TaoTao USA to register the product, but that didn't yield me anything.

I found the VIN finally thought it was hard to read

L5MAFMCT18F184506. says it's made by Konced. Have no idea who this is. Trying to get a photo but thought this might help. .

I don't think the 5LBS battery is going to be big enough. I have no idea what model Taotao that we ha e so no way to order parts.
