Adjusting Clutch on 50cc ATV
#1
Can a Chinese clutch on a 50 cc ATV be adjusted to engage at a higher rpm? The clutch is a Chinese Version 2 clutch with plates and 17T gear on back. Presently it engages too quickly and the engine doesn't have enough power to get the ATV moving. Is there a replacement clutch that is adjustable?
Thank you for any help you can give me, Scott Anderson.

If it's a centrifugal design with a moving sheave, then yes. I don't know it's design so can't direct you where you'd need to lighten the mass that pushes the sheave...most have rollers or arms...take away rollers or lighten the arms will require more rpm to engage the sheaves...
Personally, I'd look at your front/rear sprockets compared to stock...perhaps they were changed to achieve higher speed...far easier to change sprockets then mess with clutch weights...

The clutch has disks which are pushed together by 4 coil springs. The YouTube video “How to Install Heavy Duty Clutch Springs” by TheAlexManVideos, shows how to install heavy duty springs in the clutch that is in my 50 cc ATV. Heavy duty springs would defeat my purpose. I still don’t how the plates are push together when the RPM is increased.
The YouTube video “110cc Chinese Motor Tear Down,” by Joeybatts Batts, shows the engine side cover over the same clutch that is on my ATV. The video points out that the so called “clutch adjustment bolt and nut” in the engine side cover do absolutely nothing, which was one of my unsuccessful attempts to adjust the clutch.
I have ordered a special socket for taking the clutch off the engine so I can take a better look at how the clutch works. I also ordered a 42-tooth sprocket to replace the 37-tooth sprocket to see if that helps.
