guys i dont have the little owners manual so thats why im asking, is it o.k. to transport the DS standing on its rear end..my friends new Z400 says right in the manual that it is o.k........ I would not want oil leaking all through the eng. or anything?
thanks
thanks

My 2002 Owners manual says it is NOT okay to stand it up for transport. But then again the Owners manual is not always right, so who knowes. One thing I do know, its alot easier to stand the Z400 up then a DS!

Thanks Sandaholic, if the owners manual recomends against it, than ill avoid it. It would really be a pain to get it on end anyway like you said.... Some things i would worry about would be gas and coolant leaking through overflow hoses and the caps, and i dont know if the oil would be directly up against the backside of the piston rings, and or go to places its not supposed to?

who knows, they may recommend against this simply because of it's size and weight, and the liability involved with giving the big thumbs up on that.
The first thing that comes to mind to me is that you coul get gas up in the tank vent line that wraps around the tank under the tank cover. For some, that has caused a fuel supply problem. But that's no big deal and is easy to fix.
Not sure if that could introduce air into the oil circuit or not, I'll have to give that some thought. Or maybe it could do something similar to your coolant system. But this is all speculation as to why bombardier doesn't approve of transport with the unit vertical.
Personally, if all that other stuff isn't an issue, I still wouldn't haul it that way without replacing the grab bar. I don't think the stock grab bar is strong enough to handle that type of transportation. It could fold under a couple of good bumps, causing the bike to fall (if not secured properly).
Just my 2 cents worth.
