Default '03 brakes on a '00 Blaster?

My brother recently bought a 2000 Blaster (which is awesome so far) and the brakes are being fixed right now...the rear were non-existant when he bought it. I have heard that Blasters are known for bad rear brakes and now I read that the 2003 has new brakes. Does anybody know if they can be put on a 2000? What exactly is new in the brakes for the 2003? If not, are there any mods that can be done to help the brakes last longer? Thanks in advance. *Winter Rules*

Well weather or not if the new brakes can be fitted onto an older model has yet to be decided, or maybe it has but the last i heard nobody knew. The brakes for the 2003 are all hydraulic disc brakes up front and on the rear. The older style brakes were, On the front, were mechanical drums that IMO(in my opinion) are not very good for durability and ease of adjustment, On the rear it has A Mechanical Disk brake, This uses a cable to work the brakes instead of a line with fluid, They are hard to adjust and just plain out not as good as hydraulic system. As Far as i know there really inst anything you can do to to make them last longer except keep them properly maintained, by keeping them adjusted, keeping them clean, replacing worn or damaged parts, and keeping lube on parts that need it.

Well I hope this helps---
