Default gutting muffler 400 xplorer

i recently purchased a top end pipe and clutch kit from aaen which i find a little to loud , and engages to high for swamp riding . I called aaen for some advice , and talked to olev and he was quite helpful,I asked him why they didn"t make a tourqer pipe for my 2000 400 xplorer and he said that the stocker is as good as it gets for this model ,so iwas wondering if any one had tried cutting the end off of the muffler and removing some of the baffles to get it flowing better and then welding it back on and what results they had.

I have tryed to cut some baffles out of my stock 250 pipe, It doesn't do anything but make it louder. 2 strokes don't really get more power from high-flow exhaust, it's all in the expansion chamber design and how exhaust waves will burn unburnt gasses... and a lot more. I would stick with the AAEN pipe, and get a stock muffler from a scrambler 400, you will have to modify the mounts but I'm sure it is possible.
