Default Carb-mounting a K&N airbox filter???

Hey guys,

I currently have the K&N in the stock box. I was wondering if it's possible to carb-mount it without buying a new filter?

Thanks

I would say no. The one that goes into the air box is not only physically to big but the opening that would connect to the carb is way, way to big. Also the one that mounts on the carb nedds to angle down a little to help clear the seat. And even then it's very, very tight fit.

LOL..yes and your welcome. You will gain about 2 ponnies by getting the carb mount K&N though. I think there about 35 bucks plus another 10 to 12 for the outerware.

Hyper Racing sells the slip-on K&N Ru-1770 for only $23. Slightly angled down, and 1" longer than the RU_1760, if things are too tight, maybe that one will work. Don't believe them if you ask for a water resistant Outerwear though, they'll still send you a regular one. Order the WR Outerware straight from Outerwares.

Does anyone use the carb mount filters for muddy and wet conditions and snow...we have all of the above here...And I'm hesitant to get a carb-mount fearing water or crud getting into my engine.

Thanks

Dont forget the cost of the duct tape Eagle. Well thats what your gonna need to repair the holes in the outerware. Tight fit is putting it mildly.

The best way to make one fit is to chop the plastic on the bottom of the seat. After wearing through 3 outerwears through 3 rides I decided to chop the plastic. Problem solved.

You can try this trick...................
I have seen this done with the box removed.......with good results
Just remove the box and leave the filter, tube and rubber coupler.
Then make sure you have an outerwear on the filter then.
