Default 250r lost bottom end

I recently rebuilt my 87 R and I put on a fmf gold series pipe that the guy who gave it to me said it was a bottom to mid pipe and I believe him. I also installed a vforce reed valve and cleaned up the carb, k&n and put an outerwear on the air box lid. I now have lost my bottom end power and have to stay on the pipe to get around. It feels like a banshee but with 250r top end. I am trying to think of anything i could have done wrong other than the pipe is a top end pipe. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you re-jet it? If not you are VERY lean.

Your pipe could be the problem. FMF makes a variety of pipes for different applications. If you wanted bottom-to-mid range you should have the "Fatty" but it sounds as if you have the top-end SST. I have the Fatty on mine now, used to have an old FMF top-end pipe, and I can certainly tell the difference.

read the side of the pipe by "gold series" and it should either say "fatty" or "sst"

just an easy way of finding out what it is
