ds650 best quad for tall rider?
#1
i would like to hear some of your opinions on why then ds would be better for a bigger rider like myself(6'4" 260 lbs) as opposed to a raptor.i have had the opportunity to ride a ds briefly once and the size of it felt very comfortable to me but i am curious about how the suspension would hold up with someone my size jumping it in the dunes and keep in mind that i am only talking about 4 to 6 feet jumps nothing to crazy.my wife and i ride probably 30 to 40 weekends out of the year so i want something that i can rely on day in and day out to hold up and from what i hear the ds has very few problems.i also have heard that the stock suspension is capable of handling a bigger rider like me is this true or would i have to go to aftermarket shocks?i know i am rambling on here but i am just hoping for some opinions from some of you who put a lot of riding time in on your ds.currently i am riding a 686 raptor and i like the power but i would like to have something that fits my frame better and as far as i can tell the ds is the only choice for a bigger rider like me.i would appreciate opinions from anyone but especially some of you who are my size or bigger.thanks

I'm 6'8" and the DS is the ONLY quad I am capable of riding. being tall makes for the need of much body english when riding aggressively, and the fenders on a Raptor, predator, z-400, kfx-400 (all 4 bikes have the same fenders) are all in the way of my knees - no kidding.
dude you will love the DS.

All you have to do is put the 2 quads side-by side, and start comparing the 2. It becomes OBVIOUS why the DS is perfect for us big guys. Everything on the DS is LITERALLY twice the size as the Rappy. Over-engineered???Probably, but IT WONT BREAK!

The DS is big, and us big folks feel right at home on it. I used to ride a Banshee. The DS is so much more comfortable for me that I will NEVER go back. Spend a few minutes on a Raptor, and then spend a few on a DS. The difference is obvious and significant.

I'm 5-10 220 and loved the DS... I got to race one in a 24hour desert race last month and it was the first time away from my 400ex and can attest despite it's size I got used to it reall quick. I camt imagine amyone over 6-2 not appreciating it's size. The one we ran had TBR +0+1 a-arms, +0 swing arm and TCS shocks and beat the thing to death(there were more bushes in and on the bike than the surrounding landscape!) at the end and can attest after 890 miles straight the thing is a rock solid performer. I'll try to get pics, the thing looked sweet.
