I would go with the 450. IT is a four stroke and more reliable than a 2. think about it. it is faster than the raptor wait until they make some aftermarket parts. that sum b###h will hall the mail.

It depends on what your planing on using the quad for. Trail riding I'd go with a z400 or one of it's cousins (kawie, arctic cat).
As for a racing:
The GasGas quads 300 and 450 are top of the line straight of the box the best and fastest on the market.
For woods racing the GasGas is the top choice do to being very smooth in power and has a ton of torque. Motocross your going to find that both GasGas's don't come out of the hole as quick as other quads but when you get to 3rd gear and higher they will past anything.
I'm not sure on the details on the Yamaha yet. Haven't seen one race to see how it stacks up.
My best advice is test ride all the different quads and by the one that best fits your riding style. Remember it doesn't matter what you ride or how fast it is, what matters is that you are having fun and the thing keeps running and your not having to wrench on it more than you ride.
From my personal experience and opinion I would stay away from first year products. Factories tend to have bugs in the machine that need iron out and the lucky few that buy the fisrt ones get to experience these problems. So I'd tend look at getting something that has been out a little while. That's where the 400's come in.
As for how the 300 jumps. I feel it jumps better than my cannondale speed. Also I have one of the older ones with the less shock travel so I sure the newer ones are even better. The big down fall to the GasGas quads is the 52" width and the stiff steering. The fix is different a-arms, this solves both problems. GasGas is working on new a-arms but I have no clue when they will be available.
Hope I helped
Mike

I've heard the 450 is small (like a blaster) and since it's already high compression probably is not as upgradable as most quads. I would think it's better on dirt than dunes but I have no idea. Get ready for the hardest seat ever.

I JUST bought a brand spankin new YFZ-450, And I have to say, it is amazing...
I have never ridden a Gasgas 300, so I dont know how good it is compared to a YFZ-450
So I'll just help ya out by sayin, a YFZ is a more expensive gasgas300 i think...
from what other people have told me...
