I am tired of top end being better than bottom. Should I look into changing front or back sprocket? and can anyone tell me the best ratio? or number tooth sprockets?

 

Each tooth in the front equals between 3-4 teeth in the rear eg. if you wanted better bottom end power and started with a 14t front and 41t rear you would try a 13t front for a drastic (5-7mph loss on top) or you could go up 1,2,or three teeth on the back for a less drastic change.

 

On my Warrior with a WB pipe, Uni filter, the top was good but the bottom lousy. So I figured I would go out and buy the 12 tooth front sprocket (stock is 13), and it was NO better. I found it easier to wheelie with the stock gearing. I changed back to a 13, but bought a Z and just haven't gotten around to messin with the Warrior gearing to find the best combo.

 

I've noticed that the Warrior is by it's nature a little weak (power wise) on the bottom end. I don't know as there's much you can do about that because it's a design issue with the engine.

It depends on what you want to do with it as far as speed goes but dropping a tooth from the front will only cost you about 15 bucks and a little bit of time. If you don't like it or it doesn't do what you want, then change it back.

If you have any experience with gear ratios at all (like in cars) it's really easy to figure out what the ratio is now and what it would be if you change it. Just divide the number of teeth on the rear sprocket by the number of teeth on the front and you've got it. Play with the numbers a little bit and see what you come up with.
