my sp700 is backfireing

On my 02-700 when I shut off the motor sometimes Il get a backfire out of it.Now I put on a k-n filter and opend up the pipe and put alittle bigger main jet in it.Could this mean its funning to lean ? Thanks

The bigger main jet might be letting too much gas flow through, causing it to backfire.

Check the amount of play in your throttle cable. The adjuster is riight up on the handle bar If its too loose will cause backfire..
