I was told to get the 2003 Prarie 650 K&N filter, I was wondering if it fits right, and will I need to re-jet? Thanks.

 

Are you sure K&N makes one for the Praire?
I heard not and there web site just shows a oil filter for the Praire. If the do, it will fit the 700 because I bought a TwinAir for the Praire and it fit perfectly on my V-Force, thx

K&N does make an air filter for the 02 Praiarie, not sure about 03. I have been told for the Prairie I would need to rejet since they are on the lean side anyway. I have also heard some people are having problems with fitment on the K&N and needing to grease around the filter to seal cracks. Alot of people are opting for the twin air filters.

Yes, K&N makes a filter for the 03 Prairie 650. The part # is KA-6502. I just ordered one and will try it this weekend. The price is $49.95 plus tax. It is supposed to be a direct replacement. Hope it makes the "V" breath better. I will let you know about the fit.

I called Iowa motorsports and they had one in stock. I called alot of bike shops wit no luck. I had to go to the dealer that handles alot of 4x4 Quads for the farmers. Recommend you try something similar. All the other places said they could get it in a couple of days. I just didn't want to wait.

 

Deepdiver, I looked everywhere, no luck. So I called K&N toverify fit, they said they don't list a filter at all for thr 2003 Prarie, only the 2002. It is possible it's the same, they said, but they haven't officially fit checked it? I had him cross reference the filter number off the manual picture for the Vforce, no luck. Please let me know how the fit is, I'll keep the part number handy. Thanks.

 

Don't buy the 2002 Prairie air filter for your 2004 VForce. I did that with a UniFilter and it doesn't event come close to fitting. I'm guessing Kawasaki must have changed the air filter between 2002 and 2003 for the Prairie 650.


I sent TwinAir an e-mail today asking if they have an air filter for the V-Force and I'm awaiting their reply.

They did make a pretty big change between 02 and 03, its more of a dome shape instead of flat and flows about 30% more air from what I hear.
