YFZ 450: Is that made of pure gold or is it just plated?
#1
OK, I've been a Suzuki guy for a while, but I'm leaning towards Yamaha after I read about the new YFZ 450.. it's hard to beat a 2 stroke on the sand, but the "Falcon" seems like a close contender.
So I dropped by the local dealership and inquired about one... have you seen one yet, etc. This guys says he has 12 on order, for delivery no earlier than late June. Granted, the prices are always higher in the beginning, but I asked him for the selling price. He says he has "most of them" sold already. The going rate:
$8,000.00
My response:
HAHAHHAAHAH, RIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTT TT!!!!!!!!
I guess I'll wait a while for the prices to come down from Jupiter, or maybe I'll win Powerball and then it won't matter.

yeah, Im just saying, I had knwo problem buying mine for 6899, with a $300 deposit. It should be in in a week or two. I mean geez, if people are going to be that desperate, I'll buy another one, and sell it in about a month for 8500!!

I payed MSRP plus 300 for my Raptor back in November 2000 ($6800 OTD) so I think you should be able to get a YFZ for MSRP + the usual BS, but I wouldn't think for much over $7100. Just do what I did-- tell them that you can get it for MSRP at another shop. The shop I bought it from originally tried to sell it to me for $7000.

Just like when the PT Cruizer first came out, people were paying almost 50% over MSRP because they were so hot (yeh, right) and in short supply. Now they are nothing special, so prices are back to normal. Same thing with the first new Ford Thunderbirds. Whever a hot new product first comes out the dealers are going to sell the first batch at as high a price as possible. If they don't sell them, then they will gradually lower the price back down to normal. That, my friend, is the way the retail world often works.
