Default OK to use synthetic oil for rear end and sealed brakes?

I changed my rear oil for the first time after break-in. I looked for the types of oil recommended in my manual but could to find anything that matched up. Though it cost more, I opted for Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil as I thought that it would exceed the requirements. Now after changing the oil I think I might have messed up because my quad also has rear sealed brakes. I have not taken it out yet to see if the synthetic oil has a negative impact on braking.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

The fluid used in the rear end/wet brake is different from regular hypoid gear lube, it is designed specifically for wet brake applications, I would definately stick with the recommended lube. Regular or synthetic gear lube may cause slipping or abnormal braking in the brake clutch pack. Best to be safe, flush it out with some brake cleaner, let it dry out, and refill with the recommended lube.

very bad idea, use ONLY the fluids recommended by KAW. The brakes will not work well with any other lube. KAW Chem diff. oil is $5.00 /qt. It takes UNDER a qt. to change that diff. oil.
