Ihave read that these carbs work pretty good on the 400EX. All the guys that put them on, all have the big bore kits, bigger cams, and other engine work done. How do you guys think this carb would work on a bike with just a pipe, KaN with no lid, and WB rev kit? I know it would probably help more on a modded motor, but has anyone tried the carb without engine work, or have any input?

The problem with doing that is the stock engine is in a mildly tuned state. To take advantage of the additional airflow you need to make the engine flow better. It would help a little but the $450.00 would be better spent on a piston and cam. Over carbing can actually hurt performance at low speeds. I am a mechanic by trade (16 years).

Has anyone tried any of the lower priced >= 38mm carbs? $500 is a little steep for an ATV/MC carburetor.....
