I'm debating between the Kodiak 4 x 4 and the 4 x 2. I do mostly desert and trail riding and I would welcome any feedback from Kodiak owners of the 4 x 2. All my ATV friends out here in Arizona say you don't need the added complexity of a 4 x 4. I've heard the 4 x 2 is a kick to ride.

i have hade my 2000 kodiak 4X2 for about 2 months and i love it! if you are worried about not being able to get thru the mud, don't! i have had mine in some pretty wicked holes without a problem. it is very sporty for a big quad and slides very well. unless you are planning to do alot of heavy hauling, save yourself some money and go with the 4x2!

The 4x4 Kodiak can be switch to 2wd if you want better handling for play and the 4x4 is always there for that one day you need it.

Thanks, I got my Kodiak 4x2 and I love it. It seems to be the perfect blend between a sport machine and a utility. I especially like blasting past my friend's stuck Prairie 300 4 x 4 with "just a two wheel drive" machine.

If you pick the 4x2 get a set of tire chains with ice cleets. For nasty conditions they can keep on clawing like you would not belive. Big wet slippery logs are of little challenge, not to mention wet hardpack clay.
