If you think the Ohtsu tires are bad, you should try the Kenda's before making that sort of statement! LOL!

**** happens, but hands down no other mx style tire can beat the traction of an ohtsu. their traction is unsurpassed and very well recognized. but they aren't the best for puncture resistnace, that's for sure.
but on the other hand, I've been riding with my ohtsus through as nasty as terrain can get, rocks, logs, you name it, and they've held up far better than I would've expected over the past 18 months with 5 psi being my pressure of choice.

I agree with Hightower (I agree with him on almost everything!) and Sandman. The Ohtsu tire is an all purpose tire made for traction. The Kenda's were the tire that sucked - they would just spin in the dirt. We are SOOOOO lucky that Bombardier was able to convince Ohtsu (at risk of loosing the 400EX tire contract with Honda) to sell to Bombardier. There are plenty of application specific tires out there. But, for an off the shelf, do anything tire, the Ohstu tires are the best hands down - and in my opinion, are in no way crap.

BillDS, I got to know the Paul Harvey on that tire (the rest of the story....).

I shredded the knubs off of the stock Ohtsus' real fast in the desert terrain, but never had that happen. Although the front popped when I tagged a large rock with low air pressure. I generally try to run 8-10lbs. in the front and rear in the desert. Stiff, but safer.

They are a 2 ply tire. They hook up better than any other tire I've tried on dirt or wet sand. Flat tires will happen where there are sharp rocks. I've been in the woods alot with my EX and Baja and never experienced a flat, but I could see where they would. When mine wear out I'm buying another set.
