BROKE MY YFZ PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
#1
Ok I ride my YFZ in the mountains. I should have got a aftermarket skidplate but havent yet. so while riding today I hit a rock that I didnt see. I hit it hard with the sprocket side skid. It ripped my skid off and threw the chain off the sprocket!!!! I was able to get the chain on and ride back to the truck. I could see a slight bend in the sprocket. well one of sprocket hub arms is bent. I know yamaha isnt going to warranty this because it was my fault. Lonestar makes a sprocket hub that will work, but they say it is a press fit. what is it going to take to replace the hub, has anyone installed one on a YFZ yet, is this something I can do or is it beyond your average home mechanic. also they offer a stock replacement hub and one that accepts 250r sprockets which one should I get thanks Dave

ok I got my axle out and I can see it is not as hard as I thought. I just need a new hub and take my axle over to my friends shop and use his press to press off the old one and put the new one on. Just for the record the stock sprocket hub isnt weak, this isnt a problem with the new YFZ's. I would recomend a aftermarket rearskid plate to anyone who might hit a rock. when I hit the rock it threw my chain off. I am lucky i didnt throw it off hard and crack my block. A better skid is cheap compared to a sprocket hub or if you break your block open from loosing the chain. I think I am going to call lonestar tommorow and order there sprocket hub for 250r sprockets so I can actually get a new sprocket instead of waiting for companys to make one. thanks dave

Looks like you got it covered now.. how do you like your new YFZ? An alluminum skid plate is always a good investment to get. I see you live in orem to, so buying from rockymountainatv would be easy just to goto payson. I used to live in orem to.. where you ride at? I was trying to find where you live by your pics and my guess is either buy the mall or OHS.

CT raptor. I wish Rockymountain carried lonestar but they dont. I live 1 mile north of OHS. I mostly ride south of here, In FT green, The sand dunes alot, but this last weekend we were in mayfield on a nasty trail. I love the new YFZ it is a great bike
Recon Ranger, for my riding style the YFZ is awesome in the mountains. I downhill mt bike as well so i am use to things going by me fast on small trails. the YFZ is geared a little tall in first but not to bad. compared to my banshee it is tons better in the mountains. it isnt as plush as a raptor or z400 or a similar bike. and if you dont like to ride hard the YFZ has no advantage over the other atvs. but when you want to push the pace a little it is a really nice bike.
