I am thinking of buying a Z71 this weekend. Will my SP500 fit in back of the bed with the tailgate up? Thanx in advance. OUT

I think it should fit.

 

I can get my SP700 in the bed of my extended cab short bed Z71 (2000 model) with tailgate up (no brush guard, no rear guard, nothing hanging off the hitch.

 

My SP 500 HO just fits into my 03 Chevy 2500HD Shortbed. There isn't an inch to spare. I actually have to back it in and put the front tires on 2x8 blocks so that my winch doesn't hit the tailgate when truck hits bumps.

 

My SP 600 with Brushguard and winch and with the rear tube bumper, will NOT fit into the back of my Z71 short bed with the tailgate shut.
If I force it the brushguard will scratch all the paint off the bed rail behind the window and probably bust out the window to boot.
A trailer is easier day in and day out anyway and they can be bought cheap.

 

my friend got a z71 {2003} and he has a 2002 sp 700 and he fits his in by backing the bike up on concreate bricks toward the back and tyin in down therefore the winch bumper is down toward is tail gate and the top rack is over the hood and he put it liek a half inch fro mthe back glass and put a pillow between it it works well. thats my info

 

My 02 sp500 fit in the back of my 02 Z71 like a glove, even with a winch on it.

 

I appreciate everyone's input, I use my Quad mainly for Deer Hunting and was trying to avoid trailering it. Sounds like I'll be able to get it in with the Tailgate shut since I don't have any extra goodies on it yet (winch,brush guard etc.) The only negative thing I have to say about my new SP is that the Camo started peeling, talked to the dealer and their going to replace all the panels. THanx again. OUT

 

I have a 96 shortbed and neither the 500 or 700 with front and rear tube bumpers and winch would fit with tailgate shut.
