Default Bad news...no CDI for the 650....

Don at diamond g, came on the Kawie riders forum and made this statement about the many question's, " We had a working CDI 10 month's ago, but ran into legal problem's and had to destroy them by a court order, but we moved on.".......... This is why the module's are all we will have now, the top end will allow 28 degree's with no retard up to the factory rev limit, which is better than nothing, but a varible timing higher rev limit CDI is not going to happen now, at least not from DG...........

What a turn of events....alltoys is our only hope. Lets hope he has no legal battle on his hands. If he doesn't sell it then I don't think he can be taken to court?

I am surprised that the guy never came right out and said this back then, instead of giving people all this false hope that his guy was still working on it. And it appears his top end module won't be as good as the hype has stated.
Buy Canadian!

I think something everyone needs to realize is that there is a ton of legal responsibility behind these mods that people are working on. Suzuki has stated several times that they spent much more fighting legal battles because of the QuadRacer's speed than they ever made selling them. That's the main reason why all production quads are so limited. They are not equipped to go as fast as we would like them to. They have no crash protection, no protection whatsoever, the tires aren't even rated to go anywhere near high speeds. I will be very surprised the day that alltoys or Don release a true "unlimiter" to the general public. Think about it...a 600cc streetbike can easily reach 140mph. This is a SMALLER motor than what we have on our Prairies and is built VERY similar. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but whoever releases a true CDI replacement 100+mph mod for our quads will be placing themselves in a huge liability hole. Canadians . . . welcome to America - The Land of Lawsuits!

Not everybody wants to go 100+ mph, there are other benefits to having an unrestricted machine.

yes, like having full power down low or in the mid range of the powerband so we can spin big mud tires. So we can accelerate hard.

That brings up a good question. Why can these makers sell street bikes that exceed 180MPH but worry about a quad going 75 MPH? Would they not get sued with the bikes because they are designed to go that fast?

Its like an suv and a corvett, which one are you most likely going to go fast in? The corvett, but which one is speed limited? the suv.

Stakk, I was really upset about that, since I have been waiting for a CDI for almost 2 years. However, after talking with DG about that new speed module they are producing, I am now very excited about it. I don't really need higher rev limit. I posted info about it on my website. It is a lot more sophisticated than the holeshot modules. The reason we need this module, is that the frequency generating modules that are out there can't fix the top end on the stock CDI, just the low end. The 6 degree offset crank key helps but isn't really a great solution like this new module.

I think this new module is great news. It isn't quite good as a CDI, but I am still excited about it. I think Don really is going to have it ready for us soon. It is all that 99% of us need anyway.

I agree completely with Nyroc. Don at Diamond G is creating the most practical high-power upgrade we could ask for. Anything further like complete CDI replacements and major internal engine mods will probably never be available in mass quantities.
