i would recomend getting rid of norton and getting McAfee it was about 2 weeks ahead of norton and it does live updates automatically...there are ways to get your files back if you wanted too through dos or some programs like pc inspector file recovery ....hope everything is better now!!

It has been suggested that you update your protection daily.

This worm has gotten so bad that the Homeland Security has gotten involved and told ISP's to block specific ports. Here is a bulletin from my ISP.

Recently, the US Department of Homeland Security issued an advisory to Internet Service Providers. It warns of a potential network disruption due to a security loophole in the Windows 2000, XP, NT, and 2003 operating systems. This loophole may allow hackers unauthorized access to computers on our High Speed Internet network and the Internet at large, using computer viruses or worms. The Government has called for the filtering of three ports (ports 135, 137 and 445) to prevent hackers from exploiting the security loopholes.

Yes, you gotta have protection. A cable/dsl router is also good to have as a hardware firewall, but it looks like Big Brother is looking out for us too, or is he????
