Thanks for asking, wish I could be of more help!
"GLBanks" remains the true authority on Honda 300's; you may wish to use "SEARCH" and contact Gordon for consultation.
As I recall from Gordon's writings, he and his wife counted tire rotations, concluding different final drive ratios, front and rear, for the Honda 300.
Thus, I'd consider using smaller-diameter front and larger-diameter rear tires, as the factory did. However, with the small difference involved, the resulting ground-slip may produce no noticeable bind with the same tires all around, off-road, anyway.
I understand Suzuki King Quads have smaller-diameter front than rear tires also.

I think with the Honda 300's you need to keep the same tire ratio, which I think is 1" smaller tire on the front. But that ratio may change when you get into larger tires. I know someone who is running 26" and 25" tires on their 300 they havn't had any problems yet.
Definitly do not put the same size tire all the way around, this will lead to problems with bearings wearing out faster than normal.
Also keep in mind the larger the tire the more power you need to turn them.
