The stock muffler just died on the ole' 96 Sportsman 500, and I'm in the market for a new one...either just the muffler or the pipe, muffler and all. I've heard of some pipes actually LOSING power...don't want this to happen. The machine is stock as far as the engine and clutch is concerned.
I wouldn't mind if it were a little louder than stock, but not much...and the Krome Power system from Ronnies looks cool...any comments??

I have been advertising a DG pipe and muffler for $100. Sells for $190 new. Used very little, gives more low and mid range, never tried the top end. It is louder but not a whole lot, but more than I like with the type of trail riding I do. E-mail me if you are interested.

The Supertrapp IDS is probaly what you want. It looks very nice, and depending how you tune it (easy---just # of disc) gives you more low end, top end, less noise or more noise. They sound good too.

The most common setup is running the minimum reccamended disc to get good low end, not loud sound, and a nice tone.

seacow,
It separated at the weld on the muffler where it connects to the pipe...I was *******' a$$ down a hill and I guess it was just too much...plus I think my mixture needs adjusting.
