I know this might sound like a dumb question, but does the overdrive do anything while your going forwards?

I own a 2000 trailblazer

There are no dumb questions, just dumb answers from Sledder. Anyway, there is no overdrive on your machine. I think you are talking about the override button. The override button does two things. When in reverse, it overrides the rev limiter and you can fly backwards in reverse. Also when in reverse, the four wheel drive system (not applicable to you) will not engage unless the override is held. I use the override extensively when plowing snow when I need fourwheel drive to back up while plowing deep snow. The only thing to be warned of the override switch is not to hit it when you are backing up with your thumb on the accelerator as the machine will immediately rocket backwards. The override has no function while going forward.

Later. Register to vote the only way to beat the tree huggers.

One more thing it does, at least on my machine, sometimes when the rev limiter kicks in, for no aparent reason when going forward, it also shuts it off. though, since your trail blazer isn't 15 years old, don't even worry about it
