What brands do you all use? Is Polaris brand the only one that's recommended? It's at least twice as expensive as automobile motor oils. I have two 00 Trailbosses, and I have just bought all the Polaris products to change everything and WOW! $$$.$$... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I buy there oil. I bought a emgo chrome oil filter for 6.99 from dennis kirk. I also dont use there grease. There oil is a bit expensive but you only have to change it ever 100 hours at least that what is say. but i change mine ever 10 to 20 hours better safe than sorry.

I have been using their filter and oil. I probably will continue using their oil, but get an oil filter elsewhere. I use Mobil 1 synthetic grease. It is around $4.50 a tube, but well worth it for no more than you need.

I understand that all Polaris 4-stroke engines use the same oil filter. I have an sp500, and my filter number is Wix 51358. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil, Mobil 1 synthetic grease, Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil (front and rear), and Mobil 1 synthetic Transmission fluid (for front hubs). My hubs hardly ever stick in 4wd. I change my front hub fluid at least every time I change the oil. I change the front and rear drive oils about 3-4 times/year. I change the engine oil and filter about every 10 hours. I grease the entire bike every 2 rides.

Wal,
Have you found a viable alternative to the transmission (Polaris Chaincase lube) lube?... I think that there could be something else used besides the Polaris brand stuff....
I've already went to other brands of stuff for all the other fluids.. but I haven't found anything else to use for the Transmission...

I use the Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube (75W-90) in both the rear transmission as well as in the front gear box. The oil is a little heavier than the Polaris brand, but from doing research on Mobil 1 synthetic lubricants, I believe that their gear oil protects like oils heavier and thinner than a traditional gear lube. In other words, I believe that Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil had a much more broad range of applications than standard gear oil. Anyway, I've been using it for over a year now and have had no problems at all. It is 6.99 vs. $10-12, and I believe it is just as good as, if not superior, to the polaris tranny lube.
