He said he knows for sure that they are coming out with a 5 or 6 Speed full performance quad. Double A-Arms and all according to him.

He said the release would be around 2002.

I was picking up some 2 stroke oil and a spark plug from him and we got talking. He also was talking about this 400 Scrambler 2x4 they have in. They are loading it up. 440 Kit and all kinds of motor, shocks, and handling items on it!

No new news released except for the youth models and the 500 2x4 Scrambler.

I can't say anything for sure, because I don't really know. But I talked with two of my friends that work at Polaris. They did not say anything to me about a new performance quad, as they had no idea either. (Or pretended they didn't) But they did say that Polaris has a DS650, that they are tearing apart and looking over. I am assuming that this is in the R&D department, and we can all hope what that means.

But I am not going to get my hopes up until I see something for sure. I am one of those "seeing is believing" guys. They also told me some other things, no details, just some basic info that looks good for Polaris fans. I can only hope.

I'm sure there would be many more Polaris fans if they built a TRUE sport bike, light weight, long travel suspension and small enough to be agile.

Why let Honda have it all. Or let Yamaha and Cannondale take it.

Just keep the belt out of it, keep the size and weight down.

I wouldn't get your hopes set too high. Look at all the years they could have been trying to copy a 400ex. I'm not saying it's the greatest sport bike but Honda sells a ton of them and you'd think Polaris would like in on the action. All we hear about is the rumors that get out of hand, the 700 sp twin, the 650 scrambler . . . the list goes on. Really Polaris didn't do much in 2001 to satisfy our wants or needs.

It's is fairly well known that new for 2001 is kids quads and a new scrambler 2x4. Yes I do know people that work for Polaris and have some good contacts at some dealerships.

As respects the Rubicon, I don't know how good it will be . . . so I can't comment on that. If it proves to be a good quad, I hope other manufacturers will follow suit and improve upon it!

Rancheres, although it seems me and you do not see eye to eye most of the time, I will say I agree with your last post. If the Ruby is what it is said to be (and I am sure it is), then it will be good for all of us.

Look at the grizzly. It came with engine braking for the first time on a belt drive. Soon to follow was Polaris.
For those that like belt drives, Polaris had them, and other soon followed. And now Honda is taking one step farther, and making a new auto.

It does not matter who makes something, in the long run, it just lets us consumers have more, and better options. We are the ones that win.
