Parts placement of Ramsey 3000 winch on Prairie 650
#1
Soon I am going to install my Ramsey 3000 wireless winch. Where is the best place to install the following parts on a Prairie 650?
1. Solenoid Kit
2. Toggle Switch
3. Antenna kit
4. Wireless Receiver
Any help and or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Haynes

I just finished mounitng my ramsey with wireless. If you have any questions or have not mounted it yet post again and I will guide you through it. The most time was spent finding a good location for everything. My remote actully works out to 150'

I used two sided adhesive and mounted it under the left side plastic right next to the airbox. I put the antenna up in the handlbar pod. I talked to Ramsey customer service and he said the remote works better with the antenna up high. I had to cut and splice a lot of wires. The whole job to install the winch and wire the wireless remote system took aprox. 6 hrs. But my dad has a 650 with a dealer installed worn and it doesn't look like they did a very professonal job. I was able to hide all the wires and loom everything. It works great. I can't recommend this setup more. I got a good deal on the winch kit from a friend that didn't know how to mount it. $200.

Hi Torridone,
where did you hook up the red w/white stripe wire.
According to the instructions, it should be hooked up to an accessories hot, meaning a hot that is only on with the key turned on. That way, you can never accidently turn on the winch and run the battery dead (unless you leave the key on).
There are three wires coming out the back of the key switch, can I tap into one of these?
Thanks,

There is an accesory wire under the seat. I don't recal which one it is off hand, but can look tonight after work. I wouldn't tap in off of the key switch, to far to run the wires.

Actually, up front is where I have the wireless box. I could tap into one of the wires off the switch very easily (would not need to add any lenth to the existing wire). There are three wires coming out of the switch, brown, white and gray.
Which one is a key on hot?
