on the microfiche of the carb, the jets have numbers like: jet-main,#88 and Jet-pilot,#35, but there is also a few other jets that are indicated for racing use only which are jet-main,#92,82,85,90 and optional jets for the pilots like jet-pilot,#32,38. I have already put in a k&n foam filter and want to drill out the baffles but have heard that the real difference is when you change you jets. so what would you guys do?

 

if you have added a k & n filter and plan on drilling holes in the lid you will need to rejet. the numbers you list are jet sizes in metric. the bigger the number the bigger the jet. you will need to plug test your quad. run it in third gear at full throttle for about 15 or 20 seconds. pull the clutch in and hit the kill switch. pull the plug and check for color. if your plug is white or a light tan you are lean and need a bigger main jet. the jet has a number stamped on the top. take your jet out and check the number. say you have a 100 then go up to a 105 and plug check again. you want the plug to be a light brown color.

thanks mark, what kind of performance benifits will be gained and what type of reliability will i have. if im going to loose reliability i would rather leave the stock ones in.

 

if you have went to a better flowing filter and cut holes in your air box lid you really need to rejet. you are getting more air to your engine and need more fuel to go with it. more air will cause your engine to run lean and can cause major engine damage. rejetting will not hurt the realiability. you cannot get full advantage of the extra air in the engine unless you rejet. plug test it first and see. you could bee all right but i doubt it.

i didnt want to drill the lid, i wanted to drill the baffles in the muffler. but say i do rejet and drill the lid and muffler, what type of performance gain should i expect?

 

what your wanting to do should help the performance. how much i dont really know.
