I dont know which to get. I was looking at a 95
scrambler and i dont know how much is too much.
I want to be able to ride trails at a good clip
but dont want to get plastered with mud. Is the
Xplorer better than the Scrambler? Does anybody
have both and can tell me which would be better?
What would be a good price for a 95 Scrambler?
What should i pay for a 95 or 96 Xplorer? Has either model had any problems?

I was at the same decision when I bought my Explorer. I wanted the Scrambler, but I also needed low range. I would bet the Scrambler is a little faster and handles better, but if you go crawlin though a thick jungle you might want low range. Myself I wish I could have both. Man that would be great! Also if you need alot of mud protection the Explorer has good protection.
I would say ride them and see what you like the best.

sounds like the Xplorer 400 is what you need, they are a really good quad, fast! that 400 two strokes is quick. Plenty of power. I am not sure but i bet it would beat my Sportsman, the only person i know with one is 56 and a woman, but a really good driver! She liked the way it sounded so she traded in her Xpress, she will follow me anywere we go, how is that for cool!

You get LOW gear with the Explorer! They sell performance mods for both! Xplorer will resell eaier!

I own a 94 400L which is the predasesor to the Explorer 400 and a 95 scrambler 400. Both are great quads. The Sc. has it a bit more on speed but the 400L will go anywhere the Srambler will. The Scrambler will go anywhere the 400L will but with just a bit more truble due to ground clearance and the low gear. The 400L will out climb the Scrambler with a load and out pull the Scrambler. Yet the Scrambler will do much better at agresive sport riding and jumping or at the dunes. So it is up to you speed wise not much diferance, handeling the Scrambler, utility 400L, fun factor equal!

I own both machines. This weekend I went riding and here's the bottom line. For nice trails without a lot of huge rocks, the Scrambler is king. In trails that have boulders and are really rough I take my Xplorer. The difference is unbeleivable! My Scrambler will whip my Xplorer any day but...on tight trails with tons of bumps and rocks and fallen trees I will save my back and butt and ride my Xplorer. I just love having the choice now. When I only had my Xplorer it was the fastest quad I had ever had...until the Scrambler400. The Scram is fun to powerslide and haul a$$! On trails with smaller bumps and whoops I prefer the Scrambler also. My Xplorer runs a bit rougher since I installed the 26" tires...maybe the pressure? I do not think I will hunt with my Scrambler though...saving that for the Xplorer. Good luck! Both are great.
