My kids learned to ride on the Zinger (hot little Yamaha 2-stroke from way in the past). A friend has a 6 year old and we took them out riding today. The 90 was to big for her, so we borrowed an old Zinger from a friend. What a machine!! All the kids were lined up to ride the Zinger. No suspension, but nobody seemed to care. You can't crash, because it is so low you are already sitting on the ground. They don't make them like this anymore. This machine probably has the best power to weight ratio of anything ever produced.

This bike will really builds a kids skill and confidence level!! The kids I know who are the best riders today, all started on this machine. I have seen them go for $1,300 in descent condition. Grab one if you can. If you already have one, save it for your grandkids.

 

Is the Zinger the one that has plastic making it look kinda like a truck?

Probably. The front end is kind of boxey, and does look a little truck like.

I went out and measured the seat height, and it is around 20". Hard to get hurt if that is all the further you have to fall. Plus, the bike is so light, there is no weight to squash you.

 

That's the one. Original they came with a sticker up front with head lights and a grill. Looked like a little truck. For something that small it did have some get up and go!

 

2-stroke? geez, I thought all the older Yamahas were 4-stroke. we had the Moto 80 with no suspension (4-stroke, 4-spd).shoulda known, cuz our PW50(zinger) was a 2-stroke.

the '85 Suzuki LT50 was our first quad for our kids. same deal, nuthin but fun, and I thought it was also tiny, low to the ground, no suspension, and hard to find. locally, someone's been tryin to sell for $1400 (CDN). that's way too much. I sold mine in Dec. for $800, and had $600 in new parts, no labor.

 

BTW, I've posted lots here on the "what size quad for my newborn" debates, that my 7 y/o is still real po'ed that i sold the 50. I got him an LT80 and he's nowhere near as enthused about it. i think they like the feeling of towering over the machine.
