CycleTrader.com..whats the catch.
#1
ok i have a couple of questions that you "veterans" might be able to answer.
i was looking on cycletrader.com and i found a bunch of deals.
for example
03 R1 LE for 5300. looked brand new in the pics.
03 Kawi ZX6-RR for 4000. the description said nothing that would make you think the bike wasnt still new.
anyway, i found an 02 yamaha raptor that i wanted to buy for only $2500! sounds like a deal to me so i contact the guy thru email and he says he is in dublin, ireland, and assured me the bike was nothing short of great and that we would use and escrow-type service to make the deal. clean title included and everything.
so what im really trying to ask is... what's the catch on these bikes?
if they are so new and great, why are they being sold so cheap?
i know for a raptor it doesnt matter because it is being used off road, but for a street bike, what procedure would i have to go through to be able to legally ride the bike in the states?
i hope guys can answer my questions. thanks.

There has also been people saying that they were from Italy and Africa. Yep they take the partial payment and run. The funny thing is that it could be your neighbor or even someone related to the terror business. You also have to be careful when selling an item. The scams work both ways. Someone will send you a bad check with a little extra to cover shipping fees. You cash the check and send someone connected to the buyer the extra amount to ship the quad. They never get the actual item (quad) but your out the extra amount when the check bounces and the bank wants to see the seller (you) about it.

I buy the local Cycle trader. I never knew they had one online. There are alot of bikes in there for really cheap, people get them and they cant handle them and they just want to get rid of them. Ive seen plenty of custom bikes for alot less than retail. It seems that people that customize their vehicles dont want any money for the stuff they did. for example, a friend of mine has a 97 s-10 lowrider with everything you can imagine done to it except rims. id say he no less than 8 grand in it, but he only wants about 7 or 8 for it. There are alot of custom bikes around here done the same way. I dont trust online buys like that, not for that much. I go local for bikes or cars.

Hey man I am glad somebody said something about this cause I almost put an offer on a previously owned atv racer fully custom done that I know it sells for close to 20,000.00us dollars, and they were asking 6500.00, so thanks and be careful.

I've bought a couple of bikes through cycletrader.com a couple of times and it's worked out well because I only use it to find bikes/quads in the general area.
If I can't see the bike and the title, no way!
Same with selling. If I can't see the person and the green, forget it.
No worries this way.
