My buddy just got a set, there really cool looking specially the new itp rims he got them put on. However they are very very heavy. Holy crap I could have worked out with those things.

Any molded tire is going to be heavy. The Sand Star's are lighter than Sand Skate 2's.

I'd go with ITP. Gecko's are heavy and not the greatest tire.

Mike,

Do you know if the Sand Skate IIs can be comp cut in the same fashion as the Sand Skate Is? I know my Sand Skate IIs which I bought used are past the 1 year cut off date (no pun intended) to be cut / grooved however I'm just curios if it has been done before - or if you have any idea.

I have never seen SS2's comp cut. I have seen SS1's comp cut though. Those work great also when they are cut.

You could call
Joe Goodhand
Fullerton Sand Sports
8322-A Standustrial
Stanton, CA 90680
714-484-5996

He's the man for cutting tires. Although I hear he is not taking orders right now, to busy I guess.

I've got the SS I comp cut by joe - and some SS IIs. I've got it good! hahaha I got a sweet deal on the SSIIs - $200 for both front and rear with rims. Not to mention I had them delivered to Glamis for free. One of these days I want to get out on the dunes & do some tire swapping so I can really see & feel the difference of at least my two sets & some day I want to check out some straight paddles & see how those run. I had some 20" haulsers on my Mojave and well, since the ATVs are so different there is no comparison - however I didn't notice any change in the ATVs turning ability with the straight paddle.

Do you have the Sand Gecko's? I have the Sand Sharks but am looking at the geckos as a compromize as on my Z400 I am hitting the rev limiter as the Sand Sharks are spinning in the sand and not hooking up fast enough. I love to bust the sand dune ridges so I dont want to go to straight paddles. What is the weight difference betweeen the Geckos, Sand Sharks and the new ITP Sand Stars???
