AC 250/300 LIFT
#1
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you out there have either personally owned or ridden the 250/300 with a lift kit. I am looking at the moose lift kit, does anyone have opinions on either this particular kit or lift kits in general? I have seen the 400/500s with lifts the look a little stretched out to me. If you know anything about the 250/300 AC series you know these machines are both underpowered and needs more ground clearance. If I can work on these two issues I will be much happier. Any pics or advice is much appreciated.

I have a 02 300 with there lift and 28" 589 tires. High range 5th gear is useless. But it still runs about 40-42 mph. I just run it in mid range, 5th mid has the same power as 4th high an like I said she goes 40, but not fast around corners, it a little top heavy. I use this bike in the muddy season an trail ride in low range. It looks awsome with the lift, 589s, and also have lime green 250 plastic on it. I have 1000 miles on it and haven't broken a thing.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I was on my second skid plate and I finally made my own out of diamond plate, using the old as a template. Anyway does this lift help against rocks? Help in deep rutted mud holes? Does it hurt you while hill climbing? Any pictures? Thanks again guys, I think I am gonna order a lift kit. Are you guys running the moose lift kits, or is there a better one out there?

I used thw Quadrax Kit from Motovan.com catalogue (Canadian). It was less than $100 canadian...installed in minutes, and after a quick front end alignment I was back on the trail. It fit perfect...no surprises, and it helped my bike out a lot!!!

What about putting some big washers or a rubber donut in the suspension spring? I don't want to pay the $100 for a "real" lift kit, but I would thing that this would certainely help. I'm not looking for huge lift, but just a little would keep my plow push frame from scraping.

You can use Spring Spacers, but you will gain next to nothing, I would still reccomend the lift kit.

Can you explain that a bit please. On my quad, when I put the plow on it and lift the plow, my front suspension drops considerably. I don't have a problem when the plow is down. So the way I see it, if I stiffen the suspension by adding spacers, I will not drop as low when I lift the plow. I'm trying to avoid spending $75 or so for the lift kit because I blew a wad of cash on the plow. Bigger tires are out of the question for this winter, too much $$$.

Yes it will help your front end not drop when the plow is up, thought you were looking for an all round solution, for trails etc. I would expect that stiffer ride would make the quad harder to ride and less pleasant on the trails.
This is just my opinion, to each his own.
